Adams Head Start Classroom Assistant:  Full-time position; Monday through Friday. The wage range is $9.85 to $10.88 per hour depending on experience. The Center Assistant position assists the teacher and teacher assistant in working with preschool children in the classroom and while being transported on the bus. Preference may be given to candidates with Early Childhood I & II or experience with preschool children. Must have Early Childhood I & II classes within 1 year of hire. Columbia County

Coordinated Entry Specialist: 40 hour/week position. Coordinates the entry system for homeless clients in Adams, Columbia, Dodge, Juneau and Sauk Counties. Assesses and refers clients to housing agencies for placement. Enters data which prioritizes clients for appropriate housing services. Implements outreach services to inform agencies of the coordinated entry system to target homeless clients most in need of services. Recruits agencies to participate in coordinated entry. Ensures housing agencies follow coordinated entry standards. B.S. in Social Work preferred. Preferences considered for experience working with homeless/at-risk clients, conflict resolution skills, and community collaboration. Wage: $15 to $16.56/hour. AmeriCorps Teacher/Director needed Full-time position. AmeriCorps Technical Supervisor:  Full-time, full-year position with an excellent single benefit package. Position oversees a local residential building site that could be new construction or rehab home project.

This opportunity works with at-risk youth between the ages of 17 to 24 in the construction site setting. Teaching the youth pre-employment home building skills to transition to higher education, the military or into the workforce. The candidate will build relationships with the youth while instructing, coaching and encouraging them along the way.

This position works closely with the AmeriCorps Teacher who is working with the youth to assist them in obtaining their high school equivalency test. As well as with an experienced Technical Supervisor/Program Manager.

The ideal candidate would be someone with home building background and a passion to help at-risk youth. Someone who loves helping others be successful, have an ability to think through and explain tasks in multiple steps with patience. Good communication skills are a must as well as an ability to work with a diverse group of people.

Portage Head Start Infant & Toddler Teacher: Each classroom contains 8 children, 2 teachers and a shared teacher assistant. The Infant/Toddler teacher will implement high-quality services for infants and toddlers using the Frogstreet Curriculum. Fresh Start — Youth/Young Adult Positions:   Renewal Unlimited, Inc. in Portage, WI is accepting applications for the Portage Fresh Start/AmeriCorps Program for 2020-2021.  We have immediate openings for eligible participants ages 17 to 24 who are looking to complete or have completed their high school diploma.  Fresh Start/AmeriCoprs members earn a daily wage while preparing for GED/HSED testing and certificate.  Members will also develop work skills while building new single-family homes on a construction site.  The homes will be sold to qualified low income families.  In addition, participants will engage in other service projects throughout the community and learn valuable life skills. Along with earning a daily wage, all testing fees are covered and upon successful completion of the program, members are eligible to receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.  The education award may be used to pay educational costs at post-secondary institutions (including technical schools and colleges).  Members have up to 7 years to use the award. Hours for this position are Monday through Thursday 8-3:30 and Friday 8-12:30. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are included in the day as well as required work day shirts/sweatshirt.  There are several openings to be filled for this position.

Health Specialist, Portage:  Administers and implements health services for pregnant mothers and children infancy through age 5. Reviews health screenings and assessments, works with Teachers and families to ensure health screenings are completed as designated by the EPSDT schedule, and promotes child well-being through health education activities for children and their families. Requires accurate data entry and data management skills to ensure compliance with grant requirements. Manages Worksite Wellness program to promote staff well-being. Works as part of a collaborative team with other Head Start Specialists.

Full year position. Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree preferably in nursing. A licensed LPN or other health degree may be considered. Candidate must be able to work independently, possess good time management and organizational skills, and have the ability to problem-solve. Travel within a 5-county area is required. Shelter Director/Case Manager, Portage:  This position is responsible for providing direct supervision and oversight of the family shelter, men’s shelter and staff.  The person in this position should posses a positive outlook, patience, tolerance and the ability motivate the shelter residents toward self-sufficiency. Strong customer service, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and an ability to work with diverse individuals and groups are a must. Must maintain a valid driver license.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the daily operation of the family shelter and men’s shelter
  • Ensures safe and secured shelter environments
  • Performs prescreens and process new admissions
  • Oversees case management and offer support services to each of the shelter residents Monday-Friday
  • Maintains shelter/client records and process paperwork as necessary
  • Completes grant applications on behalf of RHHS
  • Attends required local and regional meetings associated with shelter management and case management
  • Represent the RHHS community meetings and organizations, as necessary
  • Assists PACAP Program Coordinator as necessary
  • Coordinates fundraising events with the help of staff and volunteers
  • Coordinates shelter volunteers and provide oversight, as necessary
  • Tracks shelter donations
  • Updates website and maintain social media pages
  • Communicates any shelter maintenance issues to the Board and coordinate repairs

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Computer experience required.  Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office software recommended.  Basic familiarity with ServicePoint database preferred; training is available if necessary.  Possess good knowledge and sensitivity of the low-income community, their needs and concerns as well as resources available to assist.

Juneau County

Part-Time Bus Driver, Mauston: This position is a part-time 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, occasional Friday staff meeting and training hours. Part-year position that runs for 9 and ½ months during our school year. The wage $15.97 per hour. The bus driver will drive Head Start children (3-5 years of age) twice per day, once for pickup in the morning and another for drop-off in the afternoon. The kids are in the classroom from 8am-3pm Monday through Thursday. The route is expected to take about 90 minutes, but is subject to adjustment based on enrollment. The bus is a short 29 max capacity bus. An aide accompanies the driver on every route. The bus driver must have or obtain a School Bus Driver’s License (CDL) within 90 days of hire and have a clean driving record for the past 3 years. Renewal pays all costs for obtaining a CDL. The bus is a type A bus and will require a class C license. This position is eligible for paid time off including sick leave.
